First, i will ask that you allow me crave your indulgence- this is going to be a long read---but I assure you, it will be worth your while. ENJOY!!!

Your relationship has probably been going steady for years, and,
You've not had a break up nor had to make the needed yet "awkward" parental introductions (hehehehe)....

LOL

Getting confused, don't mind me!!!

Yes , i'm talking about the tried-tested-and-true commitment that exists between you and your brassieres. Lol...

Loving My Bra

When comparing the number of bras to the number of other outfit you own, it becomes clear that extending the longevity of your brassieres is probably a good idea -- especially considering they can get quite pricey.

In an effort to help increase this lifespan, I toiled, rummaged, googled and researched to put together this list to when it comes to "bra caring". If i may add....these same rules applies for those gorgeous panties, negligee and yea, your boxers.

WASH OFTEN and HAND WASH ONLY (If Possible)..

As much as this depends on your personal lifestyle and level of hygiene, it is recommended that you wash any bra (except a sports bra) after wearing it twice (2ce) on the average.

And in so doing, hand washing with gentle soap (toilet or mild detergent) and cool water is the BEST way to prolong this life.

Even more so, if you're caring for bras with lacy  trimmings or those nicer than your average t-shirt bra or when it comes to under wired or more sturdy bras. Hand washing is the way to go.

Pay special attention to the under wire, straps, and the portion of the panel near the armpit, as these locations accumulate more sweat and dirt and can leave stain marks if not properly washed. To remove spots, rub them gently with your hands.

ALWAYS USE GENTLE WASH CYCLE

If hand washing becomes too much of a chore, it then becomes important that machine washing is done correctly.

One of the most important rules is that you should always set your machine to gentle cycle as a more vigorous cycle is unfriendly to fabric integrity.

This also helps prevents rips, tears and jutting of under wire through bra fabric.

DON'T COOK YOUR BRA

Cold water NEVER hot should be used when washing your delicates.

Cool water helps refresh the Lycra fabric and improve the strength and stretchability. It prevents it coming out looking frail and shrivelled because it's elasticity has been tampered with.

You therefore don't want your bra "cooked in hot water."

CLASP BEFORE WASHING..

Many of us have at one time pulled a bra out of the laundry machine to discover that it's straps are completely entangled and the hooks have ripped holes in its delicate lace or even Lycra. (I have, at least).

Hook Bra

To avoid this unfortunate predicament, make sure to always fasten your bra's clasps before washing.

Also clasp your bra's hooks so that it doesn't twist and turn the underwire and cause it to become deformed.

USE LAUNDRY BAGS..

Bra Ball

To prevent twisting, snagging and ripping, separate your bras from the rest of your clothing by using a mesh bag, laundry bag or bra ball during a machine wash.

Mesh Bag
If you don't have any of these, a pillow case will suffice. You just pop the bra inside and tie the top in a single knot. The knot will tighten as it gets wet, helping keep the bra secure inside.

STEER CLEAR BLEACH..

No Bleach

In order to protect your bra's elasticity and fabric, you don't want to use any harsh detergents when you wash it.

Bleach is especially terrible for your bra's shelf life. This is important to remember even if you choose to hand wash.

SEPARATE WHITES AND COLOURS..

Match colours when it's time to wash.

Be very careful when you're washing brassieres because they contain synthetics----- meaning that they have a great propensity to pick up dyes from other clothing.

Separate Colours

Wash only clean whites with whites."

So you don't go tossing your brand new lacy red bra in with your crisp, white t-shirt bra -- unless you really love pink. #wink.

ALWAYS AVOID FABRIC SOFTENER.. ............on bra, as this will wear the elasticity of the bra out over time.

KEEP YOUR LOADS LIGHT..

Be very careful not to overstuff your washing machine when you're throwing your bras in.

Pile of Laundry

Heavy items can do a lot of damage to your undergarments -- especially if you wear underwire bras.

NO jeans, no towels, no sheets, as these items are too heavy. These will ruin your bra if you dump everything together.

ALWAYS DRY NATURALLY..

NEVER put a bra in the dryer. It will wear the elastic out hundreds of times faster than normal wear.

Even if it doesn't look like the dryer destroys your bras, it causes long-term damage.

It's advisable to hang dry your bras by the strap or lay them to dry on a towel, cups facing up (i.e. nipples facing up).

Also, make sure that your bras are properly reshaped before you dry them.

STORAGE..

Brassieres are best kept hanging.

But if not, keep your brassieres separate from the rest of your clothes, preferably in silk paper or other fabric to avoid "squishing".

If you keep them in a drawer, keep in a cover it with paper or fabric to prevent the wood from pulling on them or you can just use a bra drawer.

Also ensure they are shaped right before storing.

I hope with these few points of mine, I have been able to convince and not confuse you on how to love your brassieres and extend their lifespan.

NOTEWORTHY: same level of "loving and caring "is to be given to other underwear forms.....

And so from me to you- always remember never to forget, you are beautiful just the way you are....
