ARCHITECTURAL SEXINESS.......
Dear Readers,
Just as promised...
Our read in this post is all about the structure/ configuration/ architecture/ anatomy (call it what you like) of them cups that hold the girls beautifully.. Brassieres.
It's amazing the things we do not know.
A bra is made up of approximately 12 pieces of fabric (hmm, that small thing), 2 foam cups, 2 under wires, 2 slides, 2 rings and a set of hook and eye closures (abeg check- na so your bra be? lol)
Apparently, just as we have body parts, so do our bras (hmm)...this might vary from bra to bra but the basic structure is common to most bras.
These parts of a classic bra include:
---Bands
--- Gore
---Side Panel
--- Cup
--- Apex
--- Neckline
--- Underwire
--- Strap
---Ring
---Slider
---Strap Join, and
---Closure (Hook and Eye).
I'm sure you all are probably wondering, do I need all this information (planning to make you all bra professors, hehehehe)...well, to get the perfect fit off of your bra, it's is advised that the anatomy be understood.
So;
Band:
This is the part of the bra that wraps round the wearers rib cage.
The cups attaches to the front of the bra band, the straps the back of the brand and centrally by the hook and eye either in front or behind..
Gore:
This is the part of the bra at the end of the underwires that forms the central groove between the cups.
Depending on the bra type the gore size can be short or tall.
Side panels: Also called side wings...and a part of the bra band.
Cups:
These come as a pair and part of the bra that holds the breast. The volume of breast it holds depends on the size and they holds the weight of the breast.
The cup size usually comes in letters...say A, B, E, FF etc.
Underwire:
These U-shaped pieces are made of either metal or plastic.
They provide extra support, lift up the breast and should completely encase the breasts.
Neckline:
This describes the shape of cut of the top of the cup of a bra as it rests on the breast.
Strap:
These go over the shoulder and hold the cup in place and not hold the weight of the whole breast.
If this bites into the skin, then it's ill-fitting.
Rings:
This ring shaped usually metal or plastic piece is what connects the bands to the straps.
The more durable the ring structure the most likely longer the bra will last.
Sliders: These are clips located directly on the straps, they are made so the strao is adjustable.
Closure /Hook and Eye:
These usually come in three sets, to allow the wearer minimal band adjustment and for hooking the bra in place .
Noteworthy, not all bras come with closures e.g the sport bra and many front opening bras.
Well Well Well...I hope with these few points of mine (I'm sure your saying if this is few then I don't want to experience long), I have been able to confer on you all a PhD in Brassiereology...and I'm sure you will never look at a bra the same way again..
Till next time....i say have a fabulous week.
