FIT TO PERFECTION
Hey Hey !!!
Its another beautiful week and i must say its going to be a lovely one one ....#i can feel it in my bones#...
Id like to say a big thank you to everyone who has stopped by to read through, drop a word and even said a thing or two behind the scenes....i love you all.
Today we travel on, on this journey through the world of under wears as we learn to determine our BRA SIZE......
To offer your breasts the right kind of support and to prevent back pain, it is important that you know your bra size.
You can ask someone in a lingerie shop to measure your bra size (in naija, you wish), or you can just read my blog (wink) so you can learn to do it yourself (and become a bra-pro,lol).
A bra size is made up of two main components:
.......the band size, and
..........the cup.
Before we start; Note that sizing is best done standing upright, with a comfortable, non padded under-wire bra worn,to give support especially for sagging breasts, but should not be a padded or push up bra ...so as to avoid wrong sizing.
BAND SIZING
Use measuring tape to measure the width of your body just below your breasts around the rib cage(for perky and swooping types, and under the breast for sagging).
Make sure the tape is firm around the body but not squeezing (so you can breathe).
Take these measurements and round it up to the nearest whole inch.
If this measurement is an odd number, add 5 inches and if an even number, add 4 inches to get your band sizefor example, if you measures 33 inches, then band size is 38 inches or 32 inches, then its 36 inches
BURST/ CUP SIZING
To measure burst/cup size, first measure your breasts at the level of your nipples (this is because this is the level at which the breast is fullest),to get the best results.
Round this number up to the nearest whole inch (").
Now subtract the band size from this number to get the difference, i.e Burst- Band size.
The difference between the two numbers determines your burst size.
Will give an example;
Band Size: 36 inches
Burst/ Cup size: 40 inches
Difference: 4 inches
Bra Size: 36 D
Use the table below to find your size, (UK sizing in bracket);
*********
Not all bras are cut in the same way, and different designers will design similar cut bras even differently.
E.g a full cup and a contour bra, with same size will give differing support, as breast volume containable by the bras will differ.
For such, one might need to drop a cup size and go a band size higher, meaning, a 36D, can do a 34 DD...
now that you've gotten some lessons, why not try this at home and see if you actually have the right bras in your underwear dresser....
Be kind enough to drop your comments, questions and suggestions on this and previous posts.
Also what you will like to see here......
Look out for more informative posts ....till our next post see you and God bless you all....
Remember not to forget, you are beautiful just the way you are.

ReplyDeleteI have been waiting for this particular post, it's the most controversial field in bra-ville, because whilst this may be the closest one could come to in attaining one's measurement, it's still very inconclusive as you've said due to bra cut and shape in relation with the person's shape and band/cup size ratio...Nothing beats trying on the bra for size! ;-) Well done Doc, you outdo yourself! :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you....my biggest fan so far....i'm glad you like this....like you said, it's a very controversial area but what has been shared here is the basics of bra sizing which every female should know....
ReplyDeleteNice one. Very informative. I have been looking for this and I am so glad you posted it. Thank you and please keep it going.

DeleteWhat is "bust size" - cup or band?
ReplyDeleteThank you for your question. Your bust size is actually a combination of both the band and cup measurements...which typically are measured in numbers and alphabets respectively. Am example being, 34D.
DeleteThe cup is depicted by the letter and the number by the measurement of the chest wall
