BRA SOS
Heart Break |
It is not uncommon for fabric to wear out after a long time of use, due to wear and tear. However, sometimes, fabric just disappoints despite its newness.
This can get so frustrating when you have spent good money on a good bra, only to have the underwire poke through, stabbing you with every move you make? Ugh.....
Ouch |
Many a times we try to fix it, by patching with sewing thread (i am a witness), BUT, somehow the wire finds its way back out. Geez!!!
Rejoice........help is here...lol.

Fix A Bra |
Fabric Glue |
I advise upholstery thread because it has more tensile strength and is much thicker than regular thread.
STEP 2:
Broken Bra |
Pull out the underwire a little bit through the hole it is poking through. Use a small little piece of duck tape (too much tape will prevent wire from fitting back in its hole) to cover up the "sharp" end of the metal underwire, so it will be more difficult for it to poke through again.
Afterwards, push the underwire back down through the hole as far as possible, thus creating enough room for sewing
Apply a tiny drop of fabric glue/ clear nail hardener just over the hole.
STEP 3:
Thread your needle with the upholstery thread, and then begin to stitch, starting from under the hole, and all the way up and then over the hole.
It is advisable to use more than one stitch as this reduces the probability of a "re-poking" and a redo.

Repair in Progress |
STEP 4:
Apply some fabric glue or clear nail polish over the entire stitched surface. This will give the thin material some extra protection from the wire poking through again.
You can us a nail file to smooth the glue drops, if it does not spread evenly.
