TO DOUCHE OR NOT TO......

Who amongst you is of the opinion that your vagina requires a thorough scrub just like you do your mouth or your toilet....

Today we get to learn about Douching......to do or not to do???

What is Douching?

The word ''douche'' is French for ''wash'' or ''soak.''

Douching basically means squirting water or other fluids into the vagina in a bid to wash/ clean it.

Typically, it entails washing out the vagina, usually with a mixture of water and vinegar in a bottle or bag and is sprayed through a tube upward into the vagina....... though this has been replaced by many other products in the market today.

First I should state this.... It is medically advised NOT to douche.

Keep reading, you'll find out why.

As much as a lot of women say the act of douching makes them feel clean.....having vacuum clean and sprayed the area...lol.....

You should know it's risks outweighs its "not-needed" benefit-----(of feeling clean).

Trust me, the vagina has its own natural way of keeping itself clean and as such does not require our help whatsoever......this is made possible by the vaginas' acidic pH, 3.7-4.5 and the presence of the good bacteria called, Lactobacilli.

Douching upsets the natural vaginal pH balance and kills the healthy bacteria in the vagina, thereby increasing the growth of unhealthy bacteria.

This increases the risk of infections (bacterial vagjnosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, which can cause infertility), pregnancy complications (ectopic pregnancy, preterm labour), and other health problems (endometriosis, increased risk if cervical qnd ovarian cancers)..

Douching agents may also irritate or burn the vagina...causing;

Itching, and or burning in or around the vagina,
Pain during urination,
Vaginal discharge, such as thick and white (like cottage cheese) or yellowish-green and bad-smelling.

NOTEWORTHY:
Douching agents, such as feminine hygiene soaps, powders, and sprays, are not needed.....

Avoid them.

The best way to clean the outside of the vagina is to wash with warm water and gentle, scent-free soap during a bath or shower....the inside however takes care of itself.

The time NEVER to use any product is when there is a discharge or infection....irrespective of the odour it gives.

In concluding,

Having some vaginal odor is normal, however, if you notice a very strong odor, it could be a sign of infection....See your Physician.

Always Remember Never To Forget, You Are Beautiful, Just The Way You Are.
