VAGINAL RASH
HAPPY NEW YEAR MY PEOPLE. ....IT HAS BEEN FOREVER. OH, HOW I HAVE MISSED YOU ALL...
If you are woman like me.....then I expect that you wear panties and get your monthly visit, your menstrual period or as I fondly call her, the lady in red.
One of the 🎁gifts this come with is.........Vaginal Itching/Irritation, especially if you have a sensitive skin, leaving your down yonder feeling sore and dry?
This is very similar to the diaper rash babies get.
The major culprits are Heat, Dampness and Chafing----- all these increase Friction.
Continuous contact with sanitary pads during the menstrual flow 🌹 can result in the vagina being kept damp......due to wetness from soaked blood and sweat, this can result in the skin getting irritated and hence rash development.
Chafing occurs when the skin is dry, from rubbing of the sanitary pad or tight panties against the skin while moving or walking.
Wearing of tight fitting panties and tights are also culprits increasing heat and dampness all leading to rash development.
Steps To Combating This.....
****Choose wisely.
Invest in less irritating range of sanitary pads made from cotton will help or better still use a tampon.
Stay away from using tissue paper or clothes.
Opt for cotton panties and wear smart, proper fitting underwear (like I always say, you wear your panty a size bigger than your cloth size ...e.g a size 10 (shud wear a size 10-12 panty).
****Change Your Padding.
Change your sanitary pads frequently during your periods, and do your best to keep clean by taking a bath at least once daily.
Daily change your underwear to a fresh and clean one as well.
****Boost Your Body´s Defenses.
Generally, your skin becomes more sensitive and you are more prone to rashes when your body´s defenses are down. It is essential not to accumulate fatigue, but to get enough sleep, eat well and drink a lot of water in order to boost your body´s defenses.
Maintain a healthy lifestyle and learn to live comfortably with your periods.
***Don't Use Soap.
It is best to wash the delicate area with warm water when you have a vaginal rash. Rubbing it with soap will only worsen your symptoms, as this can further irritate the area (ouch).
****Wipe Gently.
In a case of no access to water, gently wipe the vulva using wipes or cleansing cotton. They are mild and contain no irritants.....e.g baby wipes.
Avoid products that contain alcohol or are fragranced...trust me it has its own natural "perfume"😝.
****Apply an Ointment or Barrier Cream.
After carefully washing the affected area, pat dry and gently apply a mild ointment or barrier cream to the area...e.g sudocream or shea butter...(note apply externally only).
****See Your Doctor.
If such an ointment or cream does not help, consult your doctor.
NOTE: If your vaginal rash comes with a discharge (foul smelling, fishy or cheesy), you might need to see your doctor before applying any barrier cream to the rash)...other steps will help still.
Always Remember Never To Forget, You are Beautiful just the way You Are...
